NBCOT Digital Badges: Be Recognized for Your Accomplishments Online

As certified occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants move forward in their careers, it’s essential they are recognized for their credentials. But in today’s digital world, where we share everything online, a digital alternative to traditional paper certifications is vital. That’s why we are now offering NBCOT Digital Badges to OTR® and COTA® certificants to define and publicize their credentials.

What is an NBCOT Digital Badge?

NBCOT Digital Badges represent a new online standard to verify learning and accomplishment across digital and social networks. The badges are validated digital certificates that recognize OTR and COTA certificants for their professional growth and accomplishments.

Digital badges are dynamic icons, which can be clicked, revealing data which validates the achievements of OTR and COTA certificants, including date of certification and renewal date.

Why add the NBCOT Digital Badge?

NBCOT Digital Badges recognize and verify the credentials of OTR and COTA certificants and demonstrate your commitment to promote excellence in practice throughout their career. The NBCOT Digital Badge can be shared across digital platforms at any time and provide a verifiable recognition of professional achievement for potential employers and patients.

Who Can Access the NBCOT Digital Badges?

Badges will be awarded to certificants when they do one or more of the following:

  • Pass their certification exam

  • Renew their certification

  • Renew with a Practice Area of Emphasis

  • Obtain the maximum number of Competency Assessment Units from the Navigator

  • Volunteer with NBCOT

Certificants can access the badges through the MyNBCOT Portal.

How to Use Your NBCOT Digital Badge 

Once the digital badge is issued, the badges will be accessible through the MyNBCOT Portal. Certificants will then be able to manage and share the badges through the portal. 

Then the badge can be shared anytime and anywhere across all of a certificant's social profiles, including:

  • LinkedIn

  • Facebook

  • Twitter

  • Email signatures

  • Resumes
