“Hands on!” 2 day
The goal of this workshop is to remove fear and anxiety from splint fabrication by offering “hands-on” experience in splint design and construction. Participants will learn to fabricate approximately 15 splints with various patterns, applications, and materials. This course is designed for beginner to intermediate level splinters looking for an opportunity to “get the advantage” by improving their skills and finding solutions to their splinting problems through intensive practical experience. The wide variety of static splints taught will be appropriate to those practicing both orthopedic and general rehabilitation settings. This is a splinting course only! There will be minimal discussion of treatment techniques for various diagnoses, and it is assumed that participants have basic knowledge of hand and upper extremity anatomy.
“Movin’ on!” 2 day
This dynamic and static progressive splinting course is open only to participants who have already completed the “Hands on!” course for static splinting. This intensive lab experience will move you to the next level in your splinting skills by providing you the opportunity to fabricate several additional splints, learn about pulleys & outriggers, taping for stiffness, cylinder casting, and converting your previous days’ static splints into dynamic or static progressive quickly and easily. After immersing yourself in four days of fabricating approximately 25 splints of all shapes and sizes, you will leave feeling confident in your ability to fit patients with almost any variety of splint!
