This course will provide opportunities to utilize principles of therapeutic exercise to address musculoskeletal dysfunction of the cervical, thoracic and scapulohumeral regions. Selected pathologies will be addressed, including: osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, hypermobility, neural irritation/compression, and generalized postural dysfunction. Spinal biomechanics, principles of postural muscle sequencing and recruitment, appropriate force application for tissue healing and clinical decision making strategies are discussed. Participants will apply postural alignment, flexibility, muscle activation sequencing, endurance, and coordination techniques to selected patient problems. Lecture, activity, and laboratory-based course.
