This course will provide opportunities to utilize principles of therapeutic exercise to address musculoskeletal dysfunction of the lower extremity (repetitive strain). Selected pathologies will be addressed including plantar fasciitis, shinsplints, tendonitis, patellofemoral dysfunction, osteoarthritis, and iliotibial band syndrome. Lower extremity biomechanics, principles of postural muscle sequencing and recruitment, appropriate force application for tissue healing and clinical decision making strategies are discussed. Participants will apply lower extremity alignment, flexibility, muscle activation sequencing, endurance, and co-ordination techniques to selected patient problems. Lecture, activity, and laboratory-based course.
