This course includes the epidemiology, causes, and clinical manifestations of Alzheimer's disease. The diagnostic approach to Alzheimer's disease, including differential diagnosis, diagnostic criteria, and diagnostic testing is discussed. The course includes proven preventive measures and effective treatment options for Alzheimer's disease. Descriptions of the roles of physical and occupational therapists and caregiver training for patients with the disease are included. The effect of Alzheimer's disease on family members and caregivers is also addressed.
