Cerebral palsy describes a group of conditions that are caused by damage to the developing brain, with the literal translation meaning "brain paralysis." This damage typically occurs before, during, or closely after birth, thus babies and children are the most affected. This course describes the determining features of the diagnosis of cerebral palsy. The risk factors and etiology of this diagnosis are identified. Therapeutic treatment approaches and goals including rehabilitation therapy, improving muscle activity, occupational therapy, and gait and movement therapy are listed. A helpful resource list is also included with this course.
