This course helps to prepare healthcare providers for situations they may encounter in their professions that have an ethical component. It introduces basic ethical theory and key terms used in medical ethics. The course has a primary goal of emphasizing practical approaches to identifying and dealing with ethical problems. It lists and defines elements of ethics and specifically defines healthcare ethics as it is applied in clinical settings. It gives two case scenarios and provides a discussion for why certain decisions are made by clinicians.
