Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of American women. Approximately 500,000 women in the United States die of heart disease each year--almost double the number of women who die from lung, breast, ovarian, and uterine cancers combined. It is absolutely essential for health care providers to recognize heart disease in women and understand how to most effectively act to save their lives.
