This is an Introductory Level course. If you are a “Star Trek” fan, you will probably compare it to Mr. Spock’s mode of thinking; and no doubt we all incorporate some form of pragmatic decision making in our daily lives. For example, if you were considering buying a car, you would probably investigate what type of car you would like or that would fit your lifestyle, budget, etc. You would weigh the pros and cons and even use your judgment concerning the salesman during the purchase. These are the same types of factors a therapist would use in clinical reasoning. In this course the author provides you with some basic knowledge about clinical reasoning as well as some practical knowledge and exercises on how clinical reasoning can be used on a day-to-day basis in your practice. The focus is on how to implement this model into your daily practice for the sole purpose of optimizing your skills that will, in turn, optimize your treatment of your patients. This course was authored by Esther Kane, OTR.
