Many studies have shown that people with disabilities have a much higher risk than the rest of the population for substance abuse or dependence. Yet at least one half of persons with a substance use disorder and a coexisting disability are not being identified as such by the systems providing them services. This Introductory Level course was developed to educate healthcare professionals about the relationship between substance abuse and disabilities and the various disability topologies. This course was authored by Bill Asenjo, PhD, CRC.
