Title: Treating Hidden Visual Vestibular - Dysfunction in Children with Autism, ADHD and LD.
Recognizing the subtle signs of visual and vestibular dysfunction, that significantly impact social skills and school performance, is often the key to designing effective treatment for improved sensory processing, motor skills and behavior in children with a variety of diagnoses.
Through extensive video case analysis of infants, toddlers and school age children, this course examines the role of sensory-motor development and visualvestibular integration in the development of attention, modulation, visual perception and social skills.
Participants will learn concrete assessment tools to assess visual-vestibular function, develop measurable goals and identify which types of activities will be appropriate for each child. They will learn what "red flags" necessitate a referral to a behavioral optomotorist and the best ways to share this information with parents and teachers. While the majority of the case studies are children, these treatments have been applied with great successto adult populations as well.
