Learn evaluation tools and treatment protocols most appropriate for medically complex older persons with neurological dysfunction. Evidence-based information on neurological assessment and treatment of older clients with Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease, balance and gait disorders, neurosensory pathologies and pain problems will be provided. The changes associated with aging as well as pathological manifestations that affect the neurosensory system and result in problems with coordination, mobility, proprioception and kinesthesia, balance and falls, weakness and pain will be presented. An evaluative model for looking at neurological dysfunction from a complex medical perspective will be addressed. A focus on balance and falls, evaluation of numerous causes of dizziness and physical changes that increase the risk of falling and treatment interventions aimed at decreasing the incidence of falls will also be included.
