“Traumatic Brain Injury: Cognitive Therapy” ©2011 is offered in cooperation with Jean Neils-Strunjas. This course is a 5 contact hour video based course. "Traumatic Brain Injury: Cognitive Therapy" focuses on cognitive therapy for Traumatic Brain Injury patients. The case studies presented in this course use clinical reasoning based on the highest level of evidence available. The course covers topics such as an Overview of Cognitive Rehabilitation; Attention in Traumatic Brain Injury; Executive Functioning and Consideration in Later Stages of Recovery from a TBI; Orientation, Memory, Testing, Goals, Therapy Ideas; and Pragmatics in Recovery from a TBI.
Jean Neils-Strunjas received her Bachelor's degree from the Pennsylvania State University, and her Master's and Doctoral Degrees from Case Western Reserve University. Her research interests include the study of language and cognition in healthy adults and children and those with acquired neurogenic communication disorders. Her behavioral research is complemented by neuroimaging studies that examine lesion location and brain activation during language and cognitive tasks using functional magnetic resonance imaging. In addition to classroom teaching, Dr. Neils-Strunjas works with students in the context of independent studies, directing master's theses and doctoral dissertations.
