Title: Driving Neuroplastic Change in Stroke Survivors: leading-Edge Treatments, Tools and Strategies.
Designed to take the complexity and guesswork out of planning treatment, this seminar affirms a new perspective on stroke recovery. Based on principles proven to drive neuroplastic change in stroke survivors, this seminar will provide the tools necessary to seamlessly incorporate leading-edge, research-based recovery options singularly, and in tandem. Included will be an in-depth review of a variety of strategies, technologies and treatment options emerging from research labs around the world that are designed to aid stroke survivors in reaching the highest level of potential recovery.

Participants will learn how to select and implement the most appropriate treatment strategies including modified Constraint Induced Therapy (mCIT), a new reimbursable treatment approach that has received a lot of media coverage for its success, video assisted gaming technology such as the Nintendo ®Wii, motor imagery techniques, Neuromove, and Bioness products for the upper and lower extremities, and more. Valid and reliable measures of progress are also taught. The seminar is humorous, progressive, and evidence based, and is led by scientist- clinicians who develop and continue to test stroke recovery options.

On day two, participants will learn modified constraint induced therapy (mCIT), a new reimbursable treatment approach that has received a lot of media coverage for its success. Other strategies that will also be discussed, include gaming technologies, motor imagery techniques, EMG-based electrical stimulation (ie. NeuroMove) and functional electrical stimulation (ie. Bioness), and more. Evidence based measures of progress are also taught on Day Two.
