This course provides the therapist with a brief history of Medicare, a general description of various Medicare plans, rules and requirements that apply to anyone delivering services to Medicare beneficiaries, and the rules and requirements that are specific to practice of physical therapy and occupational therapy. Essential elements regarding the practice of physical and occupational therapy are addressed in ten different settings (acute care, long term care hospital, inpatient rehab, SNF, home health, hospice, private practice, CORF, hospital outpatient, rural health clinics). Special sections on how to avoid Medicare fraud and abuse, and understanding how to use G-Codes are included.
