This updated course (2011) provides the home health therapist with every tool needed in order to practice in the home health setting: from foundational information regarding infection control issues, personal safety tips, documentation guidelines, and ethical situations to how to handle emergency situations in the home. Included in this course is how to assess the patient’s environment, patient’s support system, psychosocial areas (cognitive, depression, dementia, motivation, pain), ADL and IADL’s, mobility, fine motor, neurological, integumentary, and cardiopulmonary systems. Of extreme value in this course is a section on how to handle emergency situations for a variety of medical conditions encountered in the home. This is a must course for therapists who frequently must make independent and immediate clinical judgments while working alone in the home health setting.
