This course is the third of three modules concerning the practice of occupational therapy in mental health. The text for the third module is Chapters 45-55 of the textbook Occupational Therapy in Mental Health: A Vision for Participation, by Brown and Stoffel, 2011 by F. A. Davis. (Note: Each of the modules can stand alone and may be taken separately.) This third module begins by introducing occupation, co-occupation, and wellness, and then addresses areas of occupational performance for persons with mental health disability as it relates to activities of daily living, students K-12, adult education, work, social participation, leisure and play, rest and sleep, spirituality, grief and bereavement. Appropriate OT assessments and intervention for each occupation is discussed and evidence based practice is emphasized. Content in this course is essential for all occupational therapy clinicians regardless of practice area, as well as those clinicians who specialize in mental health.
