The purpose of this course is to provide information and evaluative techniques to improve the therapist’s treatment of wounds from a variety of etiologies. The information incorporated in this course is based on a review of current literature; and is intended to be utilized as a guide. The course is not all-inclusive. Sample case studies are provided and multiple treatment options could apply. This course includes a brief review of anatomy and physiology of the skin, wound healing, wound infection vs. colonization, nutrition and healing, wound classification, wound assessment, wound etiology, special tests, therapeutic modalities, wound dressings and treatment guidelines.
