Multitraumatic Injuries: From Emergency to Rehabilitation

See all courses from Edlantis Seminars, Inc.

Instructor's Name: Joel Desotelle, MS OTR/L

Online/Printable/Mailed - 3 Contact Hours - Description: This entry-level course for occupational therapists and assistants explores three common traumatic injuries of children, specifically, burns, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), and limb amputations. Except for congenital amputations, also known as limb deficiencies, these conditions have sudden onset and require emergency medical intervention and may be seen together as multitraumatic injuries. The impact of these conditions is life long, influencing engagement in occupations and participation. Understanding the presentation and course of these conditions allows for more informed and effective intervention. This course reviews each injury and provides intervention strategies for occupational therapists to improve functional outcomes in children living with multitraumatic injuries.
