Online/Printable/Mailed - 5 Contact Hours - Description: This entry-level course is about children who look the same as other children but who have difficulty mastering school and home tasks and interacting with others due to learning dis- abilities or intellectual disabilities. Although the disabilities of children with visual or motor deficits are often immediately obvious, learning and intellectual disabilities may be hidden. You may not recognize that children have difficulty with learning until you have investigated how they learn and observed how their specific difficulties impact on everyday performance at home and at school. This course provides occupational therapists and assistants a closer look at learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities in children and provides intervention strategies for occupational therapists to maxmize their functional potential.
