Online/Printable/Mailed - 4 PDUs - Description: The hand is both a functional and perceptual organ that uses motor activity to complete practical tasks while the perceptual component is primarily exploratory and information seeking. These two functions work together to carry out daily activities such shoe tying and buttoning. This course takes a closer look at the perceptual functions of the hand and how it impacts performance in daily tasks. Perception in children with disorders will be explored as well as the role of vision and cognition and clinical implications for treatment. This course is appropriate for occupational therapists and assistants.
