See all courses from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Health Sciences

Instructor's Name: Sandra Artzberger

In spite of their best efforts, therapists are often frustrated that
edema and pain returns in sub-acute and chronic stages. To
decrease this type of edema the lymphatic system has to be
specifically activated. Manual edema mobilization (MEM) is
a technique specifically designed to reduce sub acute edema
post shoulder/hand injuries or surgery and lower extremity
trauma injuries or surgery i.e. hip and knee arthroplasties.
This course does not address lymphedema due to node
removal or congenital lymphedema.
