This course is designed to familiarize the therapist with heart disease, introduce the typical drugs used by cardiac patients, and instruct the therapist how the use of these drugs may impact therapy in the clinic. A definition of the disorder, background, cause, signs and symptoms, long term complications and treatment strategies (non-pharmacological and pharmacological) are included. Cardiac disorders included in this course are: hyperlipoproteinemia (Type II and Type IV), hypertension, angina, MI, and CHF. Practice activities containing practical information help the therapist apply the information to the clinical setting. The course also identifies factors that the therapist should bring to the attention of the attending physician.
