When is it time to stop saying ‘don’t you remember? When does vision become affected creating a fall risk? When does confusion cause negative behaviors? When does communication break down? This seminar will help therapists learn how to stage the patient and use spared capabilities to their advantage across all therapy disciplines. By establishing appropriate expectations throughout the therapy process OT/PT/SLP’s will learn how to be successful from their first encounter to discharge. Therapists will learn the framework for improving documentation to support skilled intervention, establish medical necessity and write appropriate goals. When a therapist is providing good and appropriate care, reimbursement denial is often due to lack of appropriate documentation supporting it. Participants will learn five evidenced-based interventions including sensory, spaced retrieval, reminisce, validation and Montessori. Therapeutic intervention is designed to help the patient achieve or maintain their highest level of function. Watson delivers the knowledge required for the therapy team to proceed with confidence and provide quality therapeutic intervention with successful outcomes for the patient with dementia.
