This course will present an integration of the Cyriax, Maitland, McKenzie, Edeling and Mulligan approaches for the examination and treatment of cervical and thoracic derangement. Special emphasis will be placed on cervicogenic headaches. Lab experience will include how to perform a selective tissue tension examination and the application of joint mobilization for increasing spinal range of motion and decreasing pain in patients with mechanical derangement

Upon completion of this course the participant shall be able to:
1. Describe Cyriax\'s theories on referred pain and selective tissue tension testing.
2. Perform and interpret a cervical examination in order to identify a mechanical derangement and those clinical findings consistent with muscular lesions, arthritis, tumor and fractures.
3. Perform and interpret a thoracic examination in order to identify a mechanical derangement and those clinical findings consist with muscular lesions, arthritis, tumors and fractures.
4. Apply McKenzie for the self reduction of mechanical derangement.
5. Apply Mulligan and Maitland mobilization approaches in the treatment of mechanical derangement of the cervical and thoracic spine.
