In this course clinicians are instructed on select topics that provide a foundation for understanding Augmentative communication. Access methods will be explored in-depth, educating clinicians on clinical indicators, facilitators, and programming. Instruction will also include differentiation between mechanical and electronic switches, the pros and cons of interfacing used to provide access through power wheelchair driving method and coverage of applications and advantages of Speech Generating Devices (SGD) for wheelchairs.
