Medical Therapeutic Yoga for Affecting Osteoarthritis and Digestive Health
This Seminar-On-Demand proposes Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) methodology for adoption of a holistic model which will address all facets of a person’s health and well-being. The course reviews epidemiology, identify high risk populations and risk factors for development of Osteoarthritis, and identify critical new developments in research concerning inflammatory processes in the body which greatly impact rehabilitation and prevention and wellness programming. Ginger evaluates 21 yoga postures, and other holistic CAM therapies for the therapist in acute and subactute or chronic phases. Additionally, this course prepares the clinician to identify and recommend nutritional interventions within a holistic, integrative, and multi-disciplinary framework in order to improve orthopaedic outcomes in the patient. Clinicians also learn to identify the “gut-brain” connection in order to understand the role that functional gastrointestinal disorders play in PYT conceptual model intervention in orthopedic rehabilitation.
