Attention OTED Applicants - Launch of New Online OTED Application
NBCOT is launching a new online Occupational Therapy Eligibility Determination (OTED) application database system.
- Effective September 16, 2013 NBCOT will no longer accept paper OTED applications.
- The new online system will be the only way in which OTED applicants can apply for the OTED review process.
- The new online system will include three categories of OTED applicants:
- New applicants with a master's degree in occupational therapy will create an account by entering an email address and password.
- Already applied and currently deficient (will need to use email address and forgot password link to access the system).
- Incomplete applicants who are currently eligible (will need to use email address and forgot password link to access the system).
- Links to the videos can also be accessed in the new online OTED application.
- NBCOT is no longer using the Determination of Masters Comparability Content Evaluation format, and is now available as the OTED Application Review Standards.
STUDYING ABROAD
Students from the United States who are considering studying abroad OR have already completed their entry-level master's degree in occupational therapy from outside the U.S. and are thinking about applying through the OTED process must keep in mind the following:
- Completion of an OT educational program approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) is just one OTED eligibility requirement. Graduating from a WFOT approved school does not guarantee OTED approval to apply for the OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST REGISTERED OTR examination.
- Even if an OT meets the OTED eligibility requirements to participate and be reviewed through the OTED process, completion of the OTED review may or may not result in an OTED approval to apply for the OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST REGISTERED OTR examination.
- Each OTED applicant must fulfill ALL eligibility standards.
