Procedures for Enforcement

The central purpose of NBCOT’s Qualifications and Compliance Review program is the protection of the public from those persons whose behavior violates one or more Principles in the NBCOT® Practice Standards/Code of Conduct.

The Procedures for the Enforcement of the NBCOT Practice Standards/Code of Conduct are intended to enable NBCOT to act fairly in the performance of its responsibilities to the public as a certifying agency, and to ensure that the rights of individuals against whom complaints have been made are protected.

The NBCOT has jurisdiction over all:

  • Individuals who have been certified as an OTR® or COTA®
  • Individuals who have applied for certification
  • Individuals who have applied for OTED® to take the NBCOT exam
  • Individuals who have applied for Early Determination Review.
