Self-assessment Tools

Self-reflection can be an important step to both personal and professional development. NBCOT has designed a number of tools to help you self-assess your skill level across multiple areas of occupational therapy practice. Use them to:

  • Document strengths in a specific practice area
  • Identify professional growth opportunities
  • Link current skills and abilities to critical job skills and performance plans
  • Assess learning needs prior to re-entering the workforce after a prolonged absence
  • Assess learning needs prior to transitioning from one area of practice to another
  • Form the framework for a professional development plan

Each self-assessment is divided into sections based on the domain areas of occupational therapy as outlined in the NBCOT Practice Analysis Study. Within each domain section, you can rate your perceived skill level for a variety of tasks.

Upon completion, the assessment is scored, enabling you to better understand your competencies. The score report contains links to professional development activities appropiate to the practice area.

Important Notes:

  • The results of the self-assessments are for your professional use only and in no way impact your current certification status.
  • You can earn PDU credit for completing each assessment and by developing a Professional Development Plan.  See the PDU Activity Chart for details.
