Clinical Ethicist Joins NBCOT Board as Public Member

NBCOT's board of directors elected Jillian Boerstler, MPA, MA, DBioethics, HEC-C, as a public member.

In December, NBCOT’s board of directors elected Jillian Boerstler, MPA, MA, DBioethics, HEC-C, as a public member.

Jillian recently moved from Indiana to Vancouver, British Columbia, to work for Providence Health Care as a system-level ethicist addressing clinical, organizational, research ethics, and public health ethics consultation for seven health care organizations in the Vancouver area. She has also been involved with working on the COVID-19 vaccine allocation framework for British Columbia.

Jillian earned her doctorate in bioethics from Loyola University Chicago and became certified as a healthcare ethics consultant (HEC-C) from the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH). She holds a Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma, which is a set of tools and strategies for process improvement. She is skilled in team building, patient-centric program development, and conflict resolution. In addition to presenting her work at several conferences, Jillian has published her writing in journals such as the American Journal of Bioethics and the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly. Her research includes areas such as preventive ethics and Catholic ethical considerations in substance use and addiction.

The board and our staff welcome Jillian to the team. There are currently three public members on our board who are an integral part of the governance of our organization. They join nine OTR and five COTA certificants who provide strategic direction and promote the organization’s long-term growth and financial stability.
