Maintain Your National Board Certification
Certification renewal recognizes that you, the OTR® or COTA®, have met a national standard for professionalism and promotes continued professional development. We believe that continually supporting your practice has long-term benefits for all stakeholders.
By completing all certification renewal requirements by your scheduled renewal date, you will be granted Active in Good Standing certification status for another three years. The certification renewal season occurs between January and March annually.

Renew online for $65 USD.
If you need to apply with a paper application, please be aware it will increase your processing time by two weeks and the cost is $75 (USD).

After You Renew
You should receive your certificate and wallet card in the mail three to four weeks after your application is processed.
If you do not receive your certificate, contact NBCOT within two months of renewing it to be reissued a certificate at no cost.
Your renewal year has passed. What next?
If you did not renew your certification within your renewal year, you must apply for reinstatement and be approved before using your OTR or COTA credential.
