Maintain Your National Board Certification

Your Certification

Certification renewal recognizes that you, the OTR® or COTA®, have met a national standard for professionalism and promotes continued professional development. We believe that continually supporting your practice has long-term benefits for all stakeholders.

By completing all certification renewal requirements by your scheduled renewal date, you will be granted Active in Good Standing certification status for another three years. The certification renewal season occurs between January and March annually.

After You Renew

You will receive an email with information on how to access/download your digital certificate, badge, and wallet card within three weeks after your application is processed. If you do not receive an email within this time frame, please send an email to recert@nbcot.org that includes your full name and certification number.

Your renewal year has passed. What next?

If you did not renew your certification within your renewal year, you must apply for reinstatement and be approved before using your OTR or COTA credential.
